Description

A storm surge begins to make landfall at Le Jaonnet Bay as storm Atiyah approaches Guernsey. Having carefully watched the waves from a distance, I felt reasonably confident that I would be safe in this location a few metres above sea level. The waves were breaking at least 5 metres above my head with an energy I could feel it in my chest. Strong wind from behind blew the worst of the spray away from me and the rock on the right deflected any direct hits. It was then just a case of keeping the lens dry while waiting for some late afternoon sunshine and a giant wave to crash over the rocky scene.
